Broken Nose
Well I went to the ENT yesterday for my broken nose, I knew I was going to need surgery but you never really want to believe it. When the Dr told me that is when it set in :(. I will be having surgery Wednesday the 28th at 9:15am. Not only did the dog fracture my nose but he also caused a deviated septum it is the bone that separates you nasal cavity. So I will also be having that corrected ahh what a pain. The real bummer is that I am going to be out of training for 2 weeks, I guess it could be worse but it still pisses me off and I am going to miss doing the second half ironman I signed up for. Looks like I might go to the beach that weekend and relax.

Broken Nose

I survived my half Ironman swim, I get kicked in the face so that my goggles get knocked off my face, get kick in the rids only to come home and get injured. I got home I had been home for about 10 minutes enough time to say hi to my boys, who were very excited to see me. They love to make a mess while I am gone, shred papers eat things they are allowed to eat. So I am annal and hate my living room being a mess because it is the first thing you see when you come into the house. I decided I would start to pick up some of the shredded paper, I was standing next to the couch and being over to pick up the paper when Brody the smaller one decided he needed to be right next to me while I was picking up. To at the same time I bent over he tried to jump onto the couch at full force the only problem is that I was in his way. And smash right into my face I knew that instance that it was broke. Blood started gushing out of my nose and I looked in the mirror and notice it is crocked on my face. So it is off to the emergency room for me from 6:45 till 12:15. I had x-rays and sure enough my nose is broken, I am going to see the ENT on Monday and will know for sure what is going to happen. But I am 90% sure I will be having surgery to get it straightened out. Which is good but bad because it is going to set me back in my swimming and I also have another Half Ironman June 8th which I am not sure I will be able to participate in now :(. Check back I will keep you posted.
Gulf Coast Half Ironman
Well back from the race last weekend and it was the best time! I had to stay in my zone two heart rate the whole time so that was a bit tough given I did the race last year and had a time that I wanted to beat. I wake up race day with hopes that the ocean has finally calmed down since Friday the waves were about 6ft and it was just crazy out there. Well of course at 4:30 am it is it bit to dark to see the ocean so I am still keeping my fingers crossed, I get body marked set up my transition then grab my teammates to head to the water. Well no such luck on a calm swim, it was a bit rough out there 3 foot waves and it just never calmed down. There was also an undercurrent so you kept getting dragged down shore I couldnt swim a straight line to save my life. I was nervous as all heck for that swim my coach looked at me to see how I was doing and I broke down and started to cry, I did not want to get into that water. But I did and made it through my time was only a minute slower then last year not to bad given last year it was like swimming on glass. I was so happy to get out of that water you call tell my this picture and the look on my face.
Then it was onto the bike which was the first time I got to race with my new bike and my aero helmet. It was good I was 10 minutes faster on my bike then last year and stayed in my zone the whole time which felt great. The out portion of the bike for 31 miles was great then you turned around and for 26 miles you rode into the wind it was about 15MPH head wind, which was a nice challenge on the time trial bike. You can feel everything on that bike.
Then it was on to the run, which was great for me this year. I actually ran the majority of the run I would say I walked 2 miles total. Not bad given last year I was a very good protion of the race. The race was very very hot I even reapplied suncreen and got burnt to a crisp. I was really enjoying myself out there this year as you can tell by this picture.
This was a great race for me and I placed 3rd in Athena 39 and under and I had no clue that I accomplished this. It was a huge confindance booster for me and I cant wait to do Lake Placid in 64 days.

The weekends workouts
Well Saturday started off with good intentions of riding out in front royal. Jen and I set off at 6am for an 80 mile loop out in Front Royal VA we got there and thought wow this is really hilly!! Maybe we should preview the course a little and see what we are getting our selves into. So we rode about 30 miles of it and wow was it hilly lots of rollers really not a flat piece of road in site and then one nice long climb at a pretty step grade. Since we have a race this Saturday we figured maybe we shouldn't do this ride and instead opted to do something else.
90 miles from home we deiced to come back to Vienna and ride 80 miles on the WO&D. Which is a nice ride some little hills and flats. It was a great 80 miles it took us 5 hours and 3 minutes. The ride out was awesome the ride back however was a bit windy. I would say at least 15 mile an hour head winds and lots of pollen storms. Oh and we almost ran over 2 snakes on the trail that was crazy they were big huge black snakes. But the ride was great Jen and I were feeling really good, our legs weren't to sore the only that was killing me was my lower region sitting on a bike seat and in aero for 5 + hours is not fun for down there. So after our ride we did a 25 minute run which actually felt good. I was surprised I thought for sure we were going to be dead but we ran about 20 minutes and walked 5 but still feeling great.
Then on to Sunday training, we actually got up and meet at 7am to get in a 6 mile run. And that felt pretty good as well the legs were to stiff although after a mile we did walk some just to help loosen up. Then it was off to my TNT practice for an open water swim!!! But my dog brody ate my goggles the night before so I had an old pair that leaked like made so I didn't really get to swim. I went out and swam with a teammate who was sick so she wasn't by her self and then I was a buoy so people would stay on course. But that was fine with me because I was physically exhausted from all the training the day before. Welcome to the world of someone training for an Ironman it's only going to get worse.
All in all it was a great weekend and I look forward to more like it.

Thursday triaing
Well I am exactly 9 days way from my first race of 2008, Gulf Coast Half Ironman in Panama City FL. Training has not been going so well for me this week, I have been slacking and it is pissing me off. Monday I did not get home from Atlanta until noon and then I had to pick my bike up at the shop so I only had time to get in my swim workout not the run. Tuesday work was crazy busy so I was only able to get in a bike. And yesterday I did not run again my friend and training buddy and I decided to go have a beer and catch up instead. Which all in all was probably a wise choice for me. I have blisters the size of Texas on my feet from the hike last weekend. Just biking on Tuesday they were killing so maybe it is good that I haven't run yet to give then a little time to heal up so I will be ready for the race.
Today I have to go for a swim which I am going to do around 11 am because the pool is never crowded at that time and then I have a 65 minute bike ride as well. Right now the weather isn't looking so hot I hope it holds out for me I don't mind riding in the rain it is the down pour I don't like.
In addition to all this training tonight it the bon voage party for my TNT team. I have to be there by 6:30 in Arlington. So I am a little stressed how to fit everything in and still get my work done for my job. For my two a day workouts I really need to start getting up early and hit the pool by 6:30am, it is hard to get back into that routine. With working from home I really dont need to get up early so I tend to sleep until 7:15 then take my dogs for a nice walk. I need to start getting up early so I dont feel so stressed. The one thing I am looking foward to this weekend is our big ride on Saturday. Jen and I are going to be doing 103 miles followed by a 25 minute run. Check back this weekend for the details. Hopefully we will get an early start so I might be able to make it to a function with my boyfriend. But well see hopefully he understands my crazy schedule.
Well enough for me today need to get some work done so that I can hit the pool!
