I'm back

Wow I just realized I never even wrote a race report for IM Arizona. It was an amazing experience with a great friend and I am glad I did the race but have no desire to do it again. The water was freezing and disgusting I broke out in a rash over my inter body! But all in all it was a great day and I am so glad I did it.

My good friend Theresa talked me into joining a local tri club called Team Z and I am doing Ironman Cozumel in November. I can not wait it is going to be so much fun. I am looking forward to training with a group of people since the last one I trained all on my own and it is pretty boring.

So now that I have started blogging again I will be sure to keep this page updated. I am now training for the Shamrock Half Marathon in March and starting my Ironman training also. Time to get serious this year is going to be a great one!!

It sure has been a long time

Wow I haven't blogged in so long, I have been lazy about it. So my new goal is to try this again. Right now I am training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October of 2010. I really need to find my love of running again it was squashed some after doing two Ironman. It is coming along slowly but I have found that I just get so bored running alone all of the time and it has been so insanely hot that if I dont start my long runs by 7am all motivation is out the door. I am hoping this changes soon as I would really like to have fun and get a PR this go around. So I am going to dig deep this weekend and just get out there and have fun and not worry about a time and see how it goes.

I have also joined a local Tri team and that will be starting the weekend of August 20th and I am sooo looking forward to that. Training with people again and meeting new friends who share the same interests as me. Stay tuned for updates.

Back at it

Wow it has been a while since I have posted anything. I have started training again I officially started March 1st. It has been going pretty good my swimming has gotten much faster which is exciting. I think I might finally get the concept of rotating and gliding.
Running has been very frustrating to me. Due to the broken foot I did not run for close to 5 months so I am basically starting over from scratch on that. I want the speed that I used to have. I know it will come back soon but it is so hard to train in my zones when it is so slow. I just have to trust in myself and the plan that Laura has written for me.
Biking well that is a whole other story. I am extremely disappointed in Kuota. In September I went for a ride and a got a nice blow on the tire from it rubbing on a wire and my seat was still making this awful squeaking noise. So I brought it to my bike shop on March 2nd they called me that day and told me that my frame is defective it was cracking and Kuota put the wrong screws in the bike!!!! How did I complete and Ironman on this bike. Kuota agreed to replace the frame they have finllay sent it to my bike shop but I still have NO tri bike!!!!!!!! May 2nd will be 2 months. Luckly I have my road bike still but it is to small and it is like riding a bus compared to my sleek tri bike. So I am keeping my fingers crossed the shop will call me any day and say the bike is ready.
Othen then that training is going great and so far I have been injury free!!!! Now if I can just drop some weight it will make it so much easier.

Foot update #2

I went back to the doctor in December and was told my foot is still broken I need to come back in a month!!! Good news is that I can finally wear matching shoes again although my foot is still pretty swollen and the only thing they fit in are sneakers or uggs. oh well I guess. So I think it is healing ok I will find out next Monday. Although last night when I was getting ready to go meet some friends I was in my bedroom picking up and rammed my pinky toe on my broken foot into the dresser. Now it hurts like a mother today and it swollen and brusing again. I have some luck I tell you! Hoping for some good news on Monday.

Ironman for 2009

Another fun update. I got into Ironman Arizona November 22, 2009. I am soooo excited to start to train again and hoping no more injuries and then I will be good to go. The exciting thing is my neighbor Billy is going to be doing it with me and this will be his first Ironman. It is going to be great to have a friend to train with and someone to go to AZ with. Check back for updates. Things will be slow for the next couple of weeks due to my injury. Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!

Foot update

I went to the doctor's yesterday for my 4 week check up on the broken foot. Good news and crappy news. Good news it is healing and I have been graduated from the big boot to a post-op shoe. Bad news I have to wear this shoe for 4 more weeks and no biking or running yet. But I can swim and I can drive again. So I will be swimming everyday and I am looking forward to Girls on the run again! The girls are my motivation to get out there and hit the ground running again.

Been a while but now I am out of commission

Well it has been a while since I have posted anything but I have no good news to post. I currently have a broken foot. On October 25th I broke my fifth metatarsal in one spot really good and 2 stress fractures. In addition I also sprained my mid foot and pulled the ligament. So I am out of commission for a 6-8 weeks. I am in a lovely walking boot so at least I can get around now. And I have to wear a sock high enough to go over the boot what a pain in the butt when you have man calves :( I found a ski sock that fits and then after about a week of hunting I found a three pack of knee highs that will fit over my calf. I really think sock manufactures need to take into account athletic women who might have big calves from working out.
Thankfully my parents came from NY to get my dogs so I dont have to walk them since I really cant walk them like they need to be. But before they left Brody was taking good care of me.

Now they are in NY on a nice vacation driving my parents crazy.
I go back to the doctors on the 24th for x-rays to see how the bone is healing and if anything needs to be done. I am hoping all goes well then I will only have 4 weeks of boredom left. I miss my running shoes and my bike.

Assuming I get a good report back from the DR and Ironman Louisville is still open I will be signing up, if not looks like I will be doing Arizona. But that might not be to bad I just found out tonight that my neighbor is looking at doing that for his first Ironman and has family out there and said I was welcome to stay there as well. So that might help make my decision easier. So in the mean time all I can do it abs and some upper body lifting. Now I have no excuse to not do my ab work :(

The other really crappy thing is I was doing this great program called Girls on the Run as an assistant coach and I cant do that at the moment. I would love to be out there encouraging the girls to run and helping get them ready for the 5K but I can not drive since it is my right foot and I need to stay off of it as much as possible. But I will be there at the finish line for the 5K on December 6th no matter what! And I can not wait for the fall program to start so I can get out there running with the girls they are such an inspiration.

Well that is all for now check back after the 24th for a good update hopefully
